Outstanding Civilian of the Year
Honored as 2014 Outstanding Civilian of the Year by Mohawk Hudson Counties Council for contributions to the planning and promotion of a “Salute to Literacy" benefit sponsored by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 358 and its Auxiliaries in Ballston Spa, the orchestration of a community-wide effort to move a 300-pound piano from a private residence to a Saratoga County nursing home, preparing news releases and public service announcements to boost awareness of, and participation in, a Bullying Awareness rally, and spearheading publicity for a Knights of Columbus fund-raiser to benefit a halfway house for alcoholic clergy.

BSHS Class of 1971, Ballston Spa, NY
Served on 40th BSHS Reunion Committee. Duties included writing press releases and PSAs.

Village History Consultant’s Office, Ballston Spa, NY
Assisted octogenarian Maurice “Christopher” Morley in documenting the past for future generations over a four-year period, an experience which subsequently inspired Mornings with Morley.

Saratoga County LEAH (Loving Education at Home), Ballston Spa, NY
Assisted with planning of enrichment programs and offered free writing workshops.

Rotary Club of Ballston Spa, Ballston Spa, NY
Put “Service Above Self” for several years by writing media releases, facilitating the creation of the club’s first web site, assisting with book drives and supporting other efforts to boost literacy at home and abroad.

Burn Prevention Education, New York and Ontario
Delivered keynote address before international Shriners’ convention at The Concord Resort; lectured Saratoga Project Lift students and Mothers’ Morning Out support groups to aid at-risk youngsters in Ontario.

Journalism Advisory Committee, Sheridan College - Oakville, Ontario
Served as mentor, attended meetings, drafted curriculum recommendations.
